Having already scaled the heights of platinum status after living in the land of obscurity, the Chili Peppers have released OUT IN L.A., a chapter of their lives from when they were still unknown. This collection is broken into four sections: remixes, live tracks, demo versions of existing material, and previously unreleased songs.
Remixes include a James Brown flavored "Higher Ground" and an extended take of "Hollywood" that just oozes grooves. Their live rendition of "Castles Made Of Sand" stays true to Hendrix's original while demo versions of "Get Up And Jump" and "Green Heaven" show off the intense interplay between bassist Flea and late guitarist Hillel Slovak. The other major bond in the group is between vocalist Anthony Kiedis and Flea, who are the sole participants on the previously unreleased "What It Is." Also included in time for the holidays is "Deck The Halls" done Chili Peppers style.

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Released: 6/5/2007

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Red-Hot-Chili-Peppers-OUT-IN-LA_kRo17.jpg?v=1758747337
poison-poisond
POISON'D!
Poison: C.C. Bringing their diehards into the process, the band invited fans to make song suggestions for the set. Previously released tracks such as "Your Mama Don't Dance" (Loggins & Messina) and "We're An American Band" (Grand Funk Railroad) were no-brainers for inclusion, as these send-ups have become staples of the group's high-energy live shows for years.
With esteemed producer Don Was leading the charge, the new recordings make no attempt to reinvent the wheel. The band pay homage to their influences with straight-up versions of "Can't You See" (Marshall Tucker Band) and "I Never Cry" (Alice Cooper), and offer a surprisingly well-executed take on "Suffragette City" (David Bowie). Wisely hooking up with Chic's Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards (both the most traditionally rooted and most fearless of the major disco-era producers), Ross sounds more forceful than she had in years. The helium-toned style of her early hits with the Supremes is worlds away from the assertive way she rips into the funky hit "Upside Down." Even better, the joyous, celebratory "I'm Coming Out" is probably the best solo track of her career, and the heartfelt "Now That You're Gone" is one of her most subtle ballads. The glossy Chic production might sound a bit dated to some ears, but it's matured much better than many similar albums of the era. Overall, this is, in many ways, Diana Ross' best solo record. ~ Charity Stafford

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Released: 06/05/2007

EAT ME, DRINK ME is a Music CDs from Marilyn Manson

Format: CD

Released: 06/05/2007

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/marilyn-manson-eat-me-drink-me_W5GKS.jpg?v=1759395607
pretenders-get-close-1
GET CLOSE
The Pretenders: Chrissie Hynde (vocals, guitar); Robbie McIntosh (guitar); T.M. There are a few too many mid-tempo songs, the production is unnecessarily slick, and at least one song--the unconvincing funk put-down "How Much Did You Get For Your Soul"--simply doesn't work. Yet GET CLOSE still packs a considerable wallop. One may long for the punk panache head Pretender Chrissie Hynde displayed on the band's early records, but frankly, if she has to celebrate the joys of motherhood, we should be thankful that the resultant "Hymn to Her" is such an exquisite a bit of neo-folk rock. (Gratitude is also the correct response to guitar god Robbie McIntosh's work throughout the album, which is, as usual, utterly succinct and thrilling).
Attention must also be paid to two of Hynde's loveliest ballads: the beguiling "My Baby" and the Memphis soul-tinged "Chill Factor." A very effective cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Room Full of Mirrors" closes the album. The cherry on top is the infectious "Don't Get Me Wrong," a Motown pastiche that's probably Hynde's most consistently ingratiating tune.

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Released: 06/05/2007

Personnel: Abe Laboriel, Jr. (drums); David Kahne (programming); Rusty Anderson (guitar); Paul "Wix" Wickens (keyboards); Brian Ray (bass guitar).
Audio Mixers: David Kahne; Andy Wallace.
The first release from the Starbucks-backed Hear Music label, 2007's MEMORY ALMOST FULL, is a significant point in Paul McCartney's long and legendary career. Not only does it mark the end of his decades-long relationship with Capitol Records, MEMORY is easily one of McCartney's most Beatlesque solo outings, a notion particularly reinforced by the album's ABBEY ROAD-styled closing suite.
Even before that dynamic medley, however, McCartney offers up some of his most vibrant songs in years--most notably the jangly opener, "Dance Tonight," and "Ever Present Past," a wonderfully catchy ode to memory--and these tracks contrast well with the largely subdued numbers on CHAOS AND CREATION IN THE BACKYARD. As with that preceding pop-oriented outing, Macca plays almost all instruments himself, although instead of working with producer Nigel Godrich again, he goes back to working with David Kahne for a more muscular, straight-ahead sound. By the time the upbeat "That Was Me" signals the record's closing sequence, it is abundantly clear that this is top-shelf McCartney, and listeners can almost hear a hearty round of applause as "Nod Your Head" brings MEMORY to its majestic end.

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Released: 06/05/2007

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/paul-mccartney-memory-almost-full_Qk1hy.jpg?v=1759012778
van-morrison-blowin-your-mind
BLOWIN YOUR MIND!
Originally released on Bang Records.
The Master Sound reissue of BLOWIN' YOUR MIND includes five additional tracks--alternate takes of album cuts--not found on the original release.
Master Sound releases are 24-karat gold CDs remastered from first-generation masters.
