Recorded live in Texas in 1976. For the last few months of 1975 and the first few of 1976, Bob Dylan led two tours, both unoffically called "Rolling Thunder." The tours were a kind of travelling circus, with many guest musicians (Roger McGuinn, Joan Baez, T-Bone Burnett, Mick Ronson, Ronee Blakely) and some weird hangers-on (Dennis Hopper, Sam Shepard). Out of these notorious shows came Dylan's much ballyhooed (and largely unseen) four-hour film RENALDO AND CLARA, a TV concert special, and this live album, released in late 1976. Often dismissed as one of Dylan's lesser recordings, HARD RAIN is actually, in some ways, one of his best. Partially inspired by Patti Smith and by a chaotic personal life, this album captures Dylan's music at its most raucous. Indeed, some have called it his "punk" album. His singing, especially on "Idiot Wind" and "Shelter From the Storm," has never sounded more venomous. Older material like "Maggie's Farm" and "One Too Many Mornings" is drastically rearranged. HARD RAIN should rightfully be compared to Neil Young's TIME FADES AWAY as a wrongfully overlooked live album by a major artist.

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Bob-Dylan-Hard-Rain-150-Gram-Vinyl-Download-Insert_sQrfA.jpg?v=1759003342
john-carpenter-film-director-anthology-movie-themes-1974-1998-slipcase
| Anthology (Movie Themes 1974-1998) (CD)

John Carpenter is a legend. As the director and composer behind dozens of classic movies, Carpenter has established a reputation as one of the greatest filmmakers in the history of modern cinema, as well as one of its most influential musicians. The minimal, synthesizer-driven themes to films like Halloween, Escape From New York, and Assault on Precinct 13 are as indelible as their images, and their timelessness was evident as Carpenter performed them live in a string of internationally sold-out concert dates in 2016. Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998 collects 13 classic themes from Carpenter's illustrious career together on one volume for the first time. Each theme has been newly recorded with the same collaborators that Carpenter worked with on his hit Lost Themes studio albums: his son, Cody Carpenter, and godson, Daniel Davies.

Photographers: Chris Helcermanas-Benge; Kim Gottlieb-Walker; Sidney Baldwin; John Shannon; Kyle Cassidy; John Hamilton; Sophie Gransard; Shane Harvey; Rena Small; Neil Jacobs.The mid-2010s found undisputed master of horror John Carpenter far busier as a musician than as a filmmaker. After releasing two volumes of original, non-soundtrack compositions (Lost Themes I and II) and touring for the first time, he revisited the themes to a baker's dozen of his most well-known movies from the '70s, '80s, and '90s. As with the Lost Themes albums and his concerts, he's joined by his son, Cody Carpenter, and his godson, guitarist Daniel Davies. The re-recordings are played straight through, with no attempts to update the sound or make the arrangements more complex, as such adjustments would simply be counterproductive. Carpenter's music had become fully in vogue by the time this album appeared, with numerous styles of rock, electronic music, and hip-hop (particularly trap) echoing his ominous themes and brilliantly minimalist arrangements. As such, the trio sounds completely au courant just by plugging in and playing. The selections aren't sequenced chronologically, which means that it starts off with the Metallica-influenced hard rock blowout "In the Mouth of Madness" (1995) before the immortal "Assault on Precinct 13" (1976). Like many early Carpenter scores, this one was composed and performed by the director himself on a minimal keyboard setup because he had no budget to hire anyone else to do the music, yet the simplicity contributed greatly to the suspense of the films, and the music became highly influential even outside of the context of the movies. The album also includes recordings of two themes to Carpenter films that he didn't compose himself (or with frequent collaborator Alan Howarth), such as Ennio Morricone's stark, pulsating "The Thing" and Jack Nitzsche's lush, romantic "Starman." Anthology won't offer any surprises to Carpenter devotees, but the music is undeniably authentic and faithful to his vision, and it sounds fantastic in any case. For anyone who isn't already familiar with Carpenter's films or music, this is a handy way to become acquainted.

Tracklist

1 In The Mouth Of Madness
2        Assault On Precinct 13
3        The Fog
4        Prince Of Darkness
5        Santiago (Vampires)
6        Escape From New York
7        Halloween
8 Porkchop Express (Big Trouble In Little China)
9        They Live
10        The Thing
11        Starman
12        Dark Star
13        Christine

*Audio and/or tracklist may vary slightly from the CD version.

Label: SBON
Rel. If 2015's Silence in the Snow marked Trivium's deep dive into arena rock, then Sin and the Sentence is the free fall; a perfectly formed horned hand framed by a smoldering wall of pyrotechnics. It may have taken eight albums to get there, but the band has never sounded more confident, delivering a positively lethal 11-song set that strikes the perfect balance between unhinged and meticulously crafted. The addition of Bent, a powerhouse, hammer-of-the-gods-style kit man, and the newfound conviction of vocalist Matt Heafy, seem to have put a charge into the group. The riffage is meaner and leaner, and the songs themselves -- especially the singles "Heart from Your Hate" and the combustible title track -- feel both lived-in and visceral, with highlights arriving via the serpentine, gang-vocal-led "Beyond Oblivion" and the throat-mangling closer "Thrown Into the Fire." Produced with significant sonic heft by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, All That Remains), Sin and the Sentence is the perfect distillation of Trivium's myriad attempts at bending the genre to their will. It's vintage Metallica by way of System of a Down, with enough Maiden-esque melodies percolating underneath to please even the most ardent old-school headbanger, but what's most impressive is that, despite all of the obvious influences, it finally sounds like them. The band's detractors jumped ship years ago, but for those who have stuck around for the long haul, Sin and the Sentence is here to pay some dividends. ~ James Christopher Monger

Genre: Pop

RSD Date: n/a

Format: CD

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Trivium-SIN-THE-SENTENCE_YxHRk_f8492281-b26c-4b9c-998d-e49e1555049f.jpg?v=1740681370
margo-price-all-american-made
All American Made
Margo Price cut her 2016 debut, Midwest Farmer's Daughter, on her own dime, hawking everything she and her husband had to record the album at Sun Studio. Its rawness grabbed the attention of Third Man Records, which released the record unadorned. Critics and a cult of fans also found the rough edges appealing, but that ragged immediacy also suggested Price was more of a traditionalist than she actually was, a situation she remedies with 2017's All American Made. Written and recorded in the aftermath of Donald J. Trump's November 2016 election, All American Made doesn't disguise Price's liberal politics -- "Pay Gap" addresses gender inequality among salaries, the title track is a stark bit of protest that reaches its boil thanks to sampled news clips -- which is a shift from the personal vignettes of her debut, and she broadens her musical range, too. Price is particularly drawn to laid-back slow, going so far as to set "Cocaine Cowboys" to a lackadaisical funk beat. She hasn't abandoned country -- the album opens with the rockabilly of "Don't Say It," which is quickly countered by the barroom swing of "Weakness," while Willie Nelson later swings by to sing on "Learning to Lose" -- which means All American Made winds up drawing an expansive portrait of American roots music, one that touches on R&B, Tex-Mex, girl group pop, spacy indie rock, and even Glen Campbell's trippiest moments. Price isn't a dilettante; these disparate styles are unified by a musical and lyrical aesthetic that views American life not only as a continuum, but a place where the past and present, rural and urban are in constant dialogue. Despite some deservedly hard edges, it's this vision of an open-hearted, open-bordered U.S.A. that gives All American Made its lasting power. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Genre: Country

Format: Cassette

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Margo-Price-All-American-Made_FRxzu.jpg?v=1759449853
iron-chic-you-cant-stay-here
YOU CAN'T STAY HERE
Personnel: Phillip Walter Douglas, Jesse Baby (vocals, guitar); Jason Lubrano (vocals, acoustic guitar); Carly Comando (vocals, keyboards); Gordy Day (vocals, drums); Donald Dumps (vocals).Recording information: Hobo House.On their defiant third LP, You Can't Stay Here, Long Island punks Iron Chic grapple with the sudden death of their good friend and former guitarist Rob McAllister. Since forming in 2008, Iron Chic have been known for their playful spirit and good-time vibes, celebrating the communal nature of punk through hearty, massive-riffed singalongs that inspire fists and drinks to be raised. The poignancy of their grief, meshed with the inevitable maturing that comes from nearly a decade of making music together, results in a different though not unwelcome tone. The pumped-up choruses, lively tempos, and wall of distorted guitars all remain, though the tunes are imbued with a sense of loss that, fortunately for the band, seems to have inspired a healthy dose of carpe diem. With the pressure of fulfilling their biggest contract yet, Iron Chic ably rose to the challenge, summoning up a rousing tribute and weathering a career transformation in the process. ~ Timothy Monger

Handling Note: **Please allow an additional 72 hours for this item's shipment.**

Format Detail: CD

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Internal ID: CD

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Iron-Chic-YOU-CANT-STAY-HERE_OfTXo_9b7df2e7-d96e-4773-8dda-cbcd13aeb074.jpg?v=1742428126
ray-charles-timeless-classic-albums-import-4-cds
Timeless Classic Albums [Import] (4 Cd's)

Timeless Classic Albums [Import] (4 Cd's) is a Music CDs from Ray Charles

Genre: R&B

Format: CD

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Ray-Charles-Timeless-Classic-Albums-Import-4-Cds_mvdD7_e1aba423-4cf2-41f2-93fd-0d9e68b354f7.jpg?v=1759039492
smiths-queen-is-dead-1
QUEEN IS DEAD
The Smiths: Morrissey (vocals); Johnny Marr (guitar); Andy Rourke (bass); Mike Joyce (drums).

Recorded in England in Winter 1985.
Arguably the Smiths' masterpiece, THE QUEEN IS DEAD found the band at the artistic apex of a career that knew few lows. Where the Canadian troubadour's previous albums all sounded like carefully constructed towers of song, built piece by painstaking piece (and Cohen has confirmed this as his working process), DEAR HEATHER seems to be an entirely more spontaneous offering. One might speculate that longtime Buddhist Cohen has taken the precepts of Zen to heart in presenting a batch of compositions unmarred by the effects of obvious labor. Lyrically and melodically, these songs are more sparse and pared-down than anything else in Cohen's catalog. Some are whittled down to only a simple recitation repeated numerous times over a skeletal chord progression. By simplifying his approach to such an extreme degree, it seems as though Cohen is trying to get as close as possible to the heart of his work, without the literary trappings of his past accomplishments. Nevertheless, one link with his previous work is the bonus live cut tacked on to the end of the disc. With numerous band-generated allusions to their impending break-up, the album bears the added weight of being a potential swan song and, if so, it makes for a powerful closing chapter. A lifetime away from the Long Island quartet's emo and pop-punk origins, Science Fiction is a complex and nuanced beast of introspective indie rock and detailed production. At first blush, it's not an easy listen, though it is ultimately a rewarding one. Dotted with lengthy quiet stretches and threaded together with a pastiche of unusual spoken samples and interludes, there's a rather Pink Floydian quality to producer Mike Sapone's approach that gels with some of the darker themes explored within. Opiatic first track "Lit Me Up" drips gently into existence over its six minutes before segueing into album highlight "Can't Get It Out," a masterwork of serpentine guitars and chugging rhythms whose chorus boasts a truly satisfying harmonic payoff. A tonal counterpart with a similarly appealing chorus, "In the Water," appears a little over midway through, acting like a tonic after the spiky alt-rock of "Out of Mana." Thematically anxious, depressed, questioning, and occasionally triumphant, frontman Jesse Lacey offers little in the way of lyrical resolve throughout these 12 songs, choosing instead to part with a sort of muted call to arms on Science Fiction's dreamy eight-minute finale, "Batter Up." As the track slowly winds to its murky conclusion, he quietly intones "It's never going to stop, batter up, give me your best shot, batter up." ~ Timothy Monger

Genre: Pop

RSD Date: DDD

Format: Vinyl

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/brand-new-science-fiction-2-lps_AMMXe.jpg?v=1740101795
bob-dylan-across-the-borderline-vol-1
Across The Borderline - Vol.1

Brand New Sealed | Bob Dylan | Across The Borderline - Vol.1 | Vinyl | Release Date: 10/20/2017

Genre: Rock

Format: Vinyl

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/bob-dylan-across-the-borderline-vol1_2MGqD.jpg?v=1759282183
the-smiths-the-queen-is-dead-box-set-5-lps
The Queen Is Dead (Box Set) (5 Lp's)
The Smiths: Morrissey (vocals); Johnny Marr (guitar); Andy Rourke (bass); Mike Joyce (drums).

Recorded in England in Winter 1985.
Arguably the Smiths' masterpiece, THE QUEEN IS DEAD found the band at the artistic apex of a career that knew few lows. The song spins this as a new experience but the tenor of the tune makes it clear Rucker is reminiscing about his past, a time when he listened to jangle pop while chugging two-dollar wine. Nostalgia is a big thing on When Was the Last Time, but it has been prominent in Rucker's music since Learn to Live, the 2008 album where the onetime Hootie & the Blowfish frontman turned to country. Not much separates When Was the Last Time from Learn to Live, or the three records that came between for that matter. Rucker still works with producer Frank Rogers and he remains committed to a chipper, tuneful blend of mainstream country-pop and sanded-down roots rock. On the fringes, there are some differences -- there's a heavier emphasis on looped rhythms, with the electronic beats vying for attention with Rucker on the closing "Story to Tell"; he eases into lightly swinging lounge for the ballad "Another Night with You," with its cameos by Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Charles Kelley; "Straight to Hell" is the rowdiest country he's ever done -- but the overall vibe is the same: it's sunny, laid-back music made for a cozy middle age. By this point, this friendly country-pop is second nature to Rucker, and when the music is designed to be a balm, there's a value in familiarity. A decade into his country career, Rucker is at ease and he has the songs to match his chill, which means this is an ideal album for relaxation. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Darius-Rucker-WHEN-WAS-THE-LASLP_0ODoR.jpg?v=1746023383
ikebe-shakedown-the-way-home
The Way Home
TracksCredits
1 Supermoon
2 Blue Giant
3 The Next 24
4 She's Knocking
5 Assassin
6 Brushfire
7 Penny the Snitch
8 Out of the Shadows
9 The Ally
10 Shifting Sands
11 Five for Five
12 When the Day Breaks

Genre: R&B

Format: Vinyl

Released: 10/20/2017

The Muffs: Kim Shattuck (vocals, guitar); Melanie Vammen (guitar); Ronnie Barnett (bass, background vocals); Criss Crass (drums, percussion, background vocals).
Additional personnel: Korla Pandit (Hammond organ); Jon Spencer (Theremin).
Producers: David Katznelson, The Muffs, Rob Cavallo.
Having played in the Pandoras before forming the Muffs, Kim Shattuck and Melanie Vammen exhibit a level of musical maturity sometimes lacking on debut albums. Indeed, by that time, rap had become saturated with numerous soundalike gangsta rappers -- most of whom weren't even a fraction as interesting as such pioneers of the style as Ice-T, N.W.A, and Schoolly D. Nonetheless, rapper/producer Quik turned out to be more noteworthy than most of the gangsta rappers who debuted that year. Lyrically, the former gang member (who grew up in the same L.A. ghetto as N.W.A, Compton) doesn't provide any major insights. Where Cradle to the Grave found the duo picking up where they left off on 1998's Domino, The Knowledge is a genuine progression from the veteran pop group, one that finds them exploring new territory. Difford's lyrics are increasingly refined, playing like short stories -- even when he succumbs to a spot of erectile dysfunction japes on "Please Be Upstanding," his jokes are finely honed -- and the precise words find a counterpoint within Tilbrook's elaborate, adventurous songs. Some of this eclecticism can be chalked up to the ornate arrangements, which is an affectation that can occasionally be distracting -- as when "Rough Ride" is nearly subsumed by a children's choir -- but it's often quite thrilling. Heard as individual moments, the songs serve up surprises -- the Baroque, twilight country-rock of "Patchouli," the Euro flair of "Every Story," the light, soulful swing underpinning "The Ones," the lushness of "Elmers End" -- but it all adds up to a finely etched, autumnal affair. There's a bittersweet streak to The Knowledge that's not sad but rather reassuring, as it adds feeling to Squeeze's sophisticated craft. This warm, soulful undercurrent, along with the wry sense of humor, elevates The Knowledge, turning it into a masterly latter-day work. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Genre: Pop

RSD Date: n/a

Format: CD

Released: 10/20/2017

THELONIOUS IN ACTION is a Records & LPs from T. More a historical document than a great LP, Music for Pleasure's highlights include "Politics," "Alone," "Your Eyes," and "Creep (You Can't Fool Me)." There's some great Lol Coxhill sax wailing on "You Know," and Beatles completists will be interested in the band's cover of "Help." Not essential, but a good solid album for collectors of '70s punk. ~ Rovi Staff

Genre: Rock

Format: Vinyl

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/damned-music-for-pleasure-purple-vinyl_umT7U.jpg?v=1758967224
lou-donaldson-33-tours-blues-walk-blue-note-180-gram-black-vinyl
33 Tours - Blues Walk (Blue Note/180 Gram Black Vinyl)
Blues Walk is an album released in 1958 on the Blue Note label
with Herman Foster (Piano), Peck Morrison (Bass),
Dave Bailey (Drums) et Ray Barretto (Congas).
It has been considered Donaldson’s «undisputed masterpiece.»

Genre: Jazz

Format: Vinyl

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/lou-donaldson-33-tours-blues-walk-blue-note180-gram-black-vinyl_oXqku.jpg?v=1759156179
pet-shop-boys-elysium-further-listening-2011-2012
ELYSIUM: FURTHER LISTENING 2011-2012
Audio Remasterer: Tim Young .Recording information: Capitol Studios, Hollywood, CA; Live Drum Tracks Studios, Los Angeles, CA; Record One, Sherman Oaks, CA; Soundeq Studios, Hollywood, CA.Introduction by: Chris Heath.Photographer: Pelle Cr?pin.After going electro with producer Xenomania on their 2009 effort Yes, the Pet Shop Boys return to a more elaborate pop sound on Elysium. Unfortunately, they're in a slump with their songwriting, and subject-wise, every song here has a companion piece on some earlier album, but that doesn't mean the party is spoiled. The delicate electro opener, "Love Etc.," is PSB perfection with its memorable hook and faultless construction. Brian Higgins and his Xenomania team (Saint Etienne, Girls Aloud) share songwriting and production duties on the track, and while that later credit continues for the remainder of the album, the hip crew becomes invisible as singer Neil Tennant and synth man Chris Lowe take over. Employing an Abbey Road orchestra and hiring Johnny Marr for some Hollywood guitar seems a familiar Pet Shop Boys maneuver, and when Tennant tops it off with some sardonic lyrics, "Beautiful People" becomes a pleasingly comfortable gift for any fan thrown by Fundamental's action committee attitude. "Did You See Me Coming" is the exhilarated infatuation of "I Wouldn't Normally Do This Sort of Thing" all over again, while "King of Rome" is the spitting image of the duo's 1987 chestnut "King's Cross." These are good things, especially for the sworn fan, and so are the few quirky new ideas, like the duo trading lines Run-D.M.C. style on "Building a Wall." The grand closer, "Legacy," is the obvious songwriting highlight, partly because of the Kurt Weill-like breakdown in the middle, but mostly because of the grim way it comforts the brokenhearted. Neil proposes that glaciers melt and stars burn out so there's a pretty good chance that given time "you'll get over it." It's much better than the "Is that a riot/Or are you just glad to see me" line in "Pandemonium" and just the touch Yes needs to put this above the standard PSB album. [Rhino reissued Yes in 2017 as part of their Catalogue series. The remastered album was joined with Further Listening 2008-2010, a double-disc set of previously unreleased demos, remixes of album tracks, B-sides, and a healthy batch of rarities, like the medley of past hits they put together for an appearance on the 2009 Brits Awards show, a heartbreaking version of Kate McGarrigle's "I Cried for Us," and a fun mash-up of Coldplay's "Vida la Vida" and "Domino Dancing," and though it omits the dub mixes of songs from Yes that were released on Etc., the brilliant synth pop throwback "This Used to Be the Future," which features a guest vocal from the Human League's Phil Oakey, is included. Add in a booklet with pithy commentary by Tennant and Lowe, as well as archival photographs, and it all makes for a nice addition to one of the duo's strongest albums.] ~ David Jeffries & Tim Sendra

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Released: 10/20/2017

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/pet-shop-boys-yes-further-listening-2008-2010_YjHAJ.jpg?v=1759388158
