Why, recording a live album, of course. Preferably a double vinyl set, and in Japan to boot. The Scorpions were no exception, and in fact, their Tokyo Tapes were captured only days after Cheap Trick's At Budokan in April 1978. Though hardly as inspired or successful, the Tokyo Tapes set still serves as an ideal greatest-hits collection of the Scorpions' first decade. This recording also showcases the spectacular playing (and occasionally, the dreadful singing) of guitarist Uli Jon Roth, who would soon leave the band for a misguided solo career, but displays some jaw-dropping technique here, most notably on the epic "We'll Burn the Sky." The rest of the band also puts in competent performances on such early standards as "In Trance," "Fly to the Rainbow," and "Speedy's Coming." The material on disc one is consistently strong, and though a number of pointless covers ("Houng Dog," "Long Tall Sally") and that most dreaded concert spectacle -- the drum solo -- break the flow on disc two, the band still closes strong with the crowd-pleasing Japanese folk song "Kojo No Tsuki" and frenetic versions of "Dark Lady" and "Robot Man." Ultimately, if you have any curiosity about the Scorpions' early material, Tokyo Tapes provides the perfect introduction. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Scorpions-Tokyo-Tapes-50th-Band-Anniversary_DVjxE_36a19788-b297-4da8-ae85-aa090b252a0f.jpg?v=1759098270
roger-waters-roger-waters-the-wall
ROGER WATERS THE WALL
Personnel: Roger Waters (vocals, guitar); Robbie Wyckoff (vocals); G.E. Surprisingly, Alan Parker's 1982 film never had an accompanying soundtrack -- its one original song, "When the Tigers Broke Free," appeared as a 7" but never made its way into live shows; as it happens, the 1982 film only existed because an attempted concert film fell apart (Is There Anybody Out There?, a 2000 double CD, excavated live recordings from 1980-1981) -- but that movie loomed nearly as large in the legend of The Wall as the original double album, crystallizing it as an anthem of angst. Waters eventually emphasized the opera's origins as the loss of his father in World War II. After the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, Waters launched an all-star benefit show in 1990 (released as The Wall: Live in Berlin), a not unsubtle nod to WWII, and by the time he re-created Floyd's 1980 production as a solo tour in the 2010s, it had become a full-fledged, all-purpose antiwar piece. Most of the shift in message came through visuals and tone -- the only new song on Roger Waters The Wall is "The Ballad of Jean Charles de Menezes," an explicit antiwar tune inserted between "Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2" and "Mother"; it also features "What Shall We Do Now?," excised for length reasons from the original double LP -- because otherwise The Wall remained the same, right down to its analog synth sounds and guitar solos. Occasionally, there might be a bit of a breakdown -- such as a bit of hard, gleaming funk during an extended "Run Like Hell" -- but there are no rearrangements, so Roger Waters The Wall could almost be mistaken for the original if it weren't for Nigel Godrich's precise, open production and Waters' disarming sense of geniality. Sour throughout Floyd and for a long spell afterward, Waters is settled into his skin as an older man, so comfortable he often performed his solo Walls with a smile. A grin can't be seen on this soundtrack but can certainly be felt throughout Roger Waters The Wall and that brings up an interesting point: it's possible to chart Waters' personal growth solely through these four full-length renditions of The Wall, hearing him transform from a dark, twisty rocker pining for isolation into an elder statesman longing to engage the world. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Genre: Pop

RSD Date: n/a

Format: CD

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Roger-Waters-ROGER-WATERS-THE-WALL_9l7ZZ.jpg?v=1741296715
various-artists-guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-mix-vol-1-original-tv-soundtrack
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: COSMIC MIX VOL. 1 - ORIGINAL TV SOUNDTRACK
TracksCredits
1 Hooked on a Feeling (Blue Swede)
2 Funk No. 49 (The James Gang)
3 Drift Away (Dobie Gray)
4 Walk Away (The James Gang)
5 Boys Are Back in Town (Thin Lizzy)
6 Shake Your Groove Thing (Peaches and Herb)
7 Funk Funk (Cameo)
8 Joy to the World (Three Dog Night)
9 I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)
10 Rocky Mountain Way (Joe Walsh)
11 So You Are a Star (Hudson Brothers)
12 Don't Stop Me Now (Queen)

Format: Cassette

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/VARIOUS-ARTISTS-GUARDIANS-OF-THE-GALAXY-COSMIC-MIX-VOL-1-ORIGINAL-TV-SOUNDTRACK_brVUu_3e99c485-8661-4d6b-99cf-f155468432d4.jpg?v=1742915395
rush-r40-live-3cd-1br
R40 LIVE (3CD-1BR)
Personnel: Alex Lifeson (vocals, guitar); Geddy Lee (vocals); Neil Peart (drums).
Programmer: Sean Snell.
Audio Mixer: David Bottrill.
Liner Note Author: Philip Wilding.
Recording information: Livewire Remote Recorders, Toronto.
Animation: Crankbunny.
Directors: Jim Steele; Dale Heslip.
Illustrator: Hugh Syme.
Photographers: Richard Sibbald; Meghan Symsyk; John Arrowsmith; Randy Johnson .
Recorded and filmed over two (sold-out, of course) evenings at Toronto's Air Canada Centre in the midst of the band's 35-date North American R40 tour, the aptly named R40 Live finds Rush at a crossroads. Bucking odds and industry trends, her popularity has remained steadfast, allowing her to become the best-selling Irish solo artist of all time. Following 2008's snowbound And Winter Came, her silence stretched to eight years -- the longest of her career -- before the mists once again parted to reveal her eighth album, the evocatively titled Dark Sky Island. Named for Sark, the smallest of Britain's Channel Islands and first in the world receive the Dark Sky designation for its lack of light pollution, it has all the thematic and sonic hallmarks typical of an Enya release but with significantly more highlights than on her two prior works. Since the release of her 1986 debut, changes in her overall approach have been subtle and critics have often derided her for her unwavering dedication to dated, late-'80s synth patches and her reliance on formulaic methods, but Enya's consistency is actually one of her greatest assets. Her low public profile -- especially in the age of social media -- demands that her music remains the sole focus, and even if she and collaborators Roma and Nicky Ryan choose to keep working within their unique, self-designed milieu, it's one that they own completely and have nurtured over the years. Opening track "The Humming," with its eerie staccato swing and mystical musings on the cycles of the universe, is one of the strongest tracks she's produced in decades and resembles a dark cousin to 1991's masterwork "Caribbean Blue." Inspired lead single "Echoes of Rain" also harkens back to her Shepherd Moons heyday and features some fine, cascading piano work amid the pulsing strings and exalted vocal layers. Dark Sky Island also marks the return of Loxian, a language lyricist Roma Ryan first created for Enya on 2005's Amarantine and which is used here on the lavish march "The Forge of Angels" and the powerful "The Loxian Gate," which again echoes early Watermark-era standouts like "Storms in Africa" and "The Longships." While it would be unfair to call Dark Sky Island a throwback, it does manage to harness some of the power and creativity of Enya's early days and pairs it with both the confidence and shadows of age. ~ Timothy Monger

Genre: International

Format: CD

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Enya-Dark-Sky-Island-Deluxe-Edition-Slipcase-Enya-Dark-Sky-Island-Deluxe-Edition-Slipcase-CD_kUpXl.jpg?v=1759435463
jadakiss-top-5-dead-or-alex
TOP 5 DEAD OR AL(EX)
Personnel: Butta (vocals).
Audio Mixer: Rich Keller.
Recording information: Chalice Studios, Los Angeles, CA; D-BLOCK Studios, Yonkers, NY; Jungle City Studios; Marathon Studios, LA; Pitchshifters Studio, Copenhagen, Denmark; The Blue Room Recordings Studios, Atlanta, GA; Tree Sound Studios, Atlanta, GA.
Photographer: Tom Medvedich.
Ruff Ryders member Jadakiss dropped the "Top Five Dead or Alive" line years ago, and since it instantly became a common conversation starter for hip-hop heads, it's only right the MC reclaim the phrase for the title of his fourth solo studio LP. (Youthful Offenders)" suggests the prison system is screwed and only breeds Old Offenders. "Jason," with Swizz Beatz, high-kicks like a dancehall champion while "Ain't Nothin' New" comes with the sheen and stately cinematic feel of a Bond theme, making Jada's "Seein' if these seven digits cheques clear/Drivin' cars that don't come out 'til next year" sound as refined and certain as 007's "Shaken, not stirred." A top-notch Lil Wayne appearance plus an unofficial Lox reunion with Styles P and Sheek Louch guesting on the LP help put this one through the uprights, giving veteran Jada one of his best and most ambitious showcases to date. ~ David Jeffries

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Released: 11/20/2015

I Love You, Honeybear is a Music Cassette Tapes from Father John Misty

Format: Cassette

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Father-John-Misty-I-Love-You-Honeybear_bXca0.jpg?v=1747926060
michael-jackson-dangerous-180-gram-vinyl-2-lp
Dangerous (180 Gram Vinyl) (2 LP)
Personnel includes: Michael Jackson, Heavy D, Christa Larson (vocals); Teddy Riley (guitar, keyboards, synthesizers, drums); Paul Jackson, Jr., Tim Pierce, David Williams, Slash (guitar); Larry Corbett (cello); Jai Winding (piano, keyboards, programming, bass); David Paich (keyboards, synthesizers, programming); Steve Porcaro (keyboards, synthesizers, programming); Rene Moore, Greg Phillinganes (keyboards); Bryan Loren (Moog synthesizer, drums, percussion); Abraham Laboriel (bass); Jeff Porcaro (drums); Wayne Cobham (sequencing, programming); Paulinho Da Costa (percussion); Siedah Garrett, Shanice Wilson, The John Bahler Singers, The Andrae Crouch Singers (background vocals).
Producers: Michael Jackson, Teddy Riley, Bruce Swedien, Bill Bottrell.
Engineers include: Bruce Swedien, Teddy Riley, Matt Forger.
Principally recorded at Record One Studios & Larrabee Studios, Los Angeles, California. Originally released on Epic/Sony (45400).
Digitally remastered by Bernie Grundman (Bernie Grundman Mastering, Los Angeles, California).
Despite the success of Bad, it was hard not to view it as a bit of a letdown, since it presented a cleaner, colder, calculated version of Thriller -- something that delivered what it should on the surface, but wound up offering less in the long run. So, it was time for a change-up, something even a superstar as huge as Michael Jackson realized, so he left Quincy Jones behind, hired Guy mastermind Teddy Riley as the main producer, and worked with a variety of other producers, arrangers, and writers, most notably Bruce Swedien and Bill Bottrell. The end result of this is a much sharper, harder, riskier album than Bad, one that has its eyes on the street, even if its heart gets middle-class soft on "Heal the World." The shift in direction and change of collaborators has liberated Jackson, and he's written a set of songs that is considerably stronger than Bad, often approaching the consistency of Off the Wall and Thriller. If it is hardly as effervescent or joyous as either of those records, chalk it up to his suffocating stardom, which results in a set of songs without much real emotional center, either in their substance or performance. But, there's a lot to be said for professional craftsmanship at its peak, and Dangerous has plenty of that, not just on such fine singles as "In the Closet," "Remember the Time," or the blistering "Jam," but on album tracks like "Why You Wanna Trip on Me." No, it's not perfect -- it has a terrible cover, a couple of slow spots, and suffers from CD-era ailments of the early '90s, such as its overly long running time and its deadening Q Sound production, which sounds like somebody forgot to take the Surround Sound button off. Even so, Dangerous captures Jackson at a near-peak, delivering an album that would have ruled the pop charts surely and smoothly if it had arrived just a year earlier. But it didn't -- it arrived along with grunge, which changed the rules of the game nearly as much as Thriller itself. Consequently, it's the rare multi-platinum, number one album that qualifies as a nearly forgotten, underappreciated record. Liner notes booklet with exclusive interviews and archive photos. The mid-to-late '60s were strange days for Lee Hazlewood. Having struck gold as songwriter and vocal foil for Nancy Sinatra, he signed up to MGM as an artist in his own right, and between 1966 and 1968, produced three ambitious solo albums that were eclectic, idiosyncratic, and most of all, unpredictable. It was a happy time for Lee; his music was hot on the charts, he was fully immersed in his collaboration with his muse, Suzi Jane Hokom. The second of his MGM trilogy-1967's peculiarly named Lee Hazlewoodism: It's Cause And Cure-took on countrified French ye-ye ("The Girls In Paris"), a tale of a young bullfighter built on Spanish guitar and choral cowboys ("Jose"), a string-drenched song about the passing of time ("The Old Man And His Guitar"), and a western epic about a Native American tribe ("The Nights"). And that was just the first four tracks. Elsewhere, the honky tonk madness of "Suzi Jane Is Back In Town," the Byrds-like jangle of "In Our Time" and-in the bonus tracks-an instrumental named "Batman" confirm this to be one of Hazlewood's most far-ranging, far-out LPs ever. It's the result of two main factors: ambition-to top Phil Spector, primarily-and cash, which paid for orchestras, plush studios, and the inestimable talents of arranger Billy Strange. "I think the big sound of those records came out of the Spector thing," says Hokom, in the new liner notes. "If you can have a big sound and you have money to burn... it was a flamboyancy."

Tracks/Credits
1 The Girls in Paris
2 Jose
3 The Old Man and His Guitar
4 The Nights
5 I Am a Part
6 Home (I'm Home)
7 After Six
8 Suzi Jane Is Back in Town
9 In Our Time
10 Dark in My Heart
11 Lee Hazlewood's Woodchucks Frenesi (Bonus Track)
12 Lee Hazlewood's Woodchucks Muchacho (Bonus Track)
13 Lee Hazlewood's Woodchucks Batman (Bonus Track)

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/lee-hazlewood-something-special-bonus-tracks-deluxe-edition-gatefold-lp-jacket-remastered_xDQ61.jpg?v=1759317851
sonny-rollins-volume-2-lp
VOLUME 2 (LP)

VOLUME 2 (LP) is a Records & LPs from Sonny Rollins

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

Songs Of Joy & Peace (Hol) is a Records & LPs from Yo-yo Ma / Friends

Genre: Orchestral & Symphonic

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/yo-yo-ma-friends-songs-of-joy-peace-hol_k5RtO.jpg?v=1759413413
art-blakey-quintet-night-at-birdlandlp-1
NIGHT AT BIRDLAND(LP

NIGHT AT BIRDLAND(LP is a Records & LPs from Art Blakey Quintet

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/art-blakey-quintet-night-at-birdlandlp_aa4Qw.jpg?v=1759341792
neko-case-blacklisted-limited-edition-translucent-orange-vinyl
Blacklisted (Limited Edition, Translucent Orange Vinyl)
DESCRIPTION
Limited edition Orange Vinyl LP pressing.

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/roger-waters-roger-waters-the-wall-180-gram-vinyl-gatefold-lp-jacket-3-lps_4sAxp.jpg?v=1742433639
led-zeppelin-mothership-180-gram-vinyl-box-set-4-lps
Mothership (180 Gram Vinyl) (Box Set) (4 Lp's)
TracksCredits
- Disc 1 -
1 Good Times Bad Times
2 Communication Breakdown
3 Dazed and Confused
4 Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
- Disc 2 -
1 Whole Lotta Love
2 Ramble on
3 Heartbreaker
4 Immigrant Song
- Disc 3 -
1 Since I've Been Loving You
2 Rock and Roll
3 Black Dog
- Disc 4 -
1 When the Levee Breaks
2 Stairway to Heaven
- Disc 5 -
1 Over the Hills and Far Away
2 D'yer Mak'er
3 No Quarter
- Disc 6 -
1 Trampled Under Foot
2 Houses of the Holy
3 Kashmir
- Disc 7 -
1 Nobody's Fault But Mine
2 Achilles Last Stand
- Disc 8 -
1 In the Evening
2 All My Love

Genre: Pop

RSD Date: n/a

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/led-zeppelin-mothership-180-gram-vinyl-box-set-4-lps_Qr651.jpg?v=1740694122
fatboy-slim-palookaville-import-2-lps
Palookaville [Import] (2 Lp's)
Track Listings
Disc 1
1Don't Let the Man Get You Down
2Slash Dot Dash
3Jin Go Lo Ba
4Long Way from Home
5Put It Back Together
6Mi Bebe Masoquista
Disc 2
1Push and Shove
2North West Three
3The Journey
4Wonderful Night
5Song for Chesh
6The Joker

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/fatboy-slim-palookaville-import-2-lps_eGUIf.jpg?v=1748386342
maroon-5-singles-collection-import
Singles Collection [Import]
Track Listings
Disc 1
1This Love
2Payphone
3She Will Be Loved
4One More Night
5Moves Like Jagger
6Wake Up Call
7Misery
8Maps
9Makes Me Wonder
10Animals
11Daylight
12Sugar

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/maroon-5-singles-collection-import_cqHHe.jpg?v=1742915847
fatboy-slim-better-living-through-chemistry-import
Better Living Through Chemistry [Import]
Track Listings
Disc 1
1Song for Lindy
210th & Although they never registered with critics or rock historians the way MC5 or the Stooges did, Frijid Pink had obviously learned something in the course of two years on the road, and with Mike Valvano producing, they were able to channel the excitement of their work onto the grooves of this album very neatly. Those who bought the number seven single "House of the Rising Sun" weren't disappointed with the bluesy boogie sound of "I'm on My Way" or the slowed-down Yardbirds approach of "Drivin' Blues" (somehow, when Kelly Green sang "My woman loves me" it seemed to matter), and even if "Tell Me Why" was a tuneless mess, Gary Thompson made up for it with a fuzz-out guitar performance that sounded like speaker burnout in slow motion. They were back in form on the next number, the crunchy, pumping rocker "End of the Line," where Green, Thompson, and company move into Led Zeppelin territory very effectively (you can just imagine them switching gear into "Black Dog" in a jam to this song on-stage), with a killer performance by Rich Stevers on the drums. And that was all leading up to "House of the Rising Sun." "Boozin' Blues," which closed the original LP, is a blues workout reminiscent of Cream's version of Willie Dixon's "Spoonful"; a virtuoso effort by Thompson and Green, it shows off a more reflective and studied side of the band's sound. One of the major classic rock recordings of the '70s, A Night at the Opera is perhaps best remembered for being the Queen album with "Bohemian Rhapsody," a fact that helped the record debut at number one in the U.K. and number four in the States. When Queen took the stage at the Hammersmith on Christmas Eve 1975, they were already over 20 dates deep into their tour in support of the album. In fact, they had played the Hammersmith a few weeks previously and just returned from a four-night stint in Scotland. Audibly limber and primed for the show, Queen open the concert by ripping into a swaggering version of "Now I'm Here," and proceed to deliver a relentlessly exuberant set of songs culled fairly evenly from their discography to that point. Included are such Queen concert favorites as "Brighton Rock," "Keep Yourself Alive," and "In the Lap of the Gods." What is most illuminating here is the aggressiveness with which Queen play live. In contrast to their meticulously intricate and sometimes delicate multi-layered studio arrangements on Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, and A Night at the Opera, Queen are raw, loose, and propulsive here. It's invigorating to hear them kick out "The March of the Black Queen," smartly inserted into a medley bookended by "Bohemian Rhapsody" and played with an aggressive, punk-like intensity. Vocally, Freddie Mercury -- the consummate live performer -- seems to pivot with the energy of the moment, choosing to avoid a few of the higher, more crystalline melody notes when it doesn't serve a given song's more bluesy live arrangement, such as on their rendition of "Killer Queen," coloring the song instead with a gritty but warm resonance that better fits the band's in-the-moment physicality. Together with Brian May's sizzling, ornamented guitar operatics, they transform cuts like "Seven Seas of Rhye" and "White Queen" into showstopping tidal waves of glitter-laden pomp. As live Queen albums go, A Night at the Odeon matches the archival 2014 release Live at the Rainbow '74 for raw rock intensity and charismatic stage derring-do from both May and Mercury. The concert has an epic flow and works as a thumbnail sketch of the band from its inception onward. This is classic '70s Queen, four slim longhaired gents in white pearlized satin bell-bottomed jumpsuits, performing with brute energy and swanlike grace; a band in complete control of its sound, able to bend any song or audience to its will. ~ Matt Collar

Genre: Rock

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

D-12: Denaun "Kon Artis" Porter (rap vocals, programming); Eminem, Proof, Rondell "Kuniva" Beene, Swift, Bizarre (rap vocals).
Additional personnel: Dina Rae, Truth Hurts (vocals); Jeff Bass (spoken vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass); Obie Trice, Steve Berman (spoken vocals); Mike Elizondo (guitar, keyboards, bass); Ray Gale (harmonica); Camara Kambon, Scott Storch, Luis Resto (keyboards); DJ Head (programming); Traci Nelson (background vocals).
Producers: Denaun "Kon Artis" Porter, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Jeff Bass.
Engineers: Steve King, Mauricio "Veto" Iragorri.
The presence of Eminem as executive producer, co-writer, and designated white guy, guarantees a considerable amount of attention for hip-hop group D12. Fortunately for Eminem fans, their hero's talents are not squandered on DEVIL'S NIGHT. D12 is presumably a reference to the fact that Mr. Slim Shady moved to Detroit when he was twelve years old, and the same hardcore urban style that informs his own work is a major factor on this group effort. While it's Eminem's starpower that's given D12 a wide audience, this an entirely collective endeavor; each of the rappers in D12 gets an equal amount of time in the spotlight. In this respect, the situation is not unlike that of Nelly's work with St. Lunatics. As the opening tongue-in-cheek disclaimer notes, this album is full of the potentially offensive terms and subjects that made Eminem so controversial, and the album's emotional centerpiece "American Psycho" is a journey into a psyche as deep and dark as any on THE MARSHALL MATHERS LP. On the one hand, it's a festive affair that sees the stalwart trio performing a lethal mix of classics, deep cuts, and recent triumphs with the gusto of men many years younger, but that carnival atmosphere is tempered by the fact that after 41 years, the band may be finally exiting stage left. Neil Peart's chronic tendonitis may be the biggest contributing factor to the band's retirement from the road, but one would be hard-pressed to find any flaws in his performance. In fact, R40 Live may be the band's most dynamic live LP to date. Boasting a career-spanning set list that works its way backwards, beginning with a thunderous rendition of 2012's Clockwork Angels highlight "The Anarchist," R40 Live is best experienced with the show's visuals intact, as the band pairs each song with the era-correct tour staging, from the whimsical laundromat dryers of the 1990s to the pared-down classic rock/curtained theater vibe of the 1970s. Also, fans of the band's oft-used comical tour videos will be treated to a bevy of special guests including the likes of Les Claypool, Peter Dinklage, Chad Smith, Jason Segal and Paul Rudd, Tom Morello, and Jay Baruchel, but there's still plenty of pure audio to please the hardcore base. What Herb Alpert found in Mexican street bands was a previously untapped source of south-of-the-border melody and rhythm. Special mention must go to guitarist John Pisano and marimba man Julius Wechter, both of whom round out the sharp corners of a potentially raucous sound.

Genre: Pop

Format: CD

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/herb-alpert-whipped-cream-other-delights_enQy1.jpg?v=1759387151
jewel-picking-up-the-pieces-2-lps
Picking Up the Pieces (2 Lp's)

Picking Up the Pieces (2 Lp's) is a Records & LPs from Jewel

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/Jewel-Picking-Up-the-Pieces-2-Lps_x4GeS.jpg?v=1759176624
butthole-surfers-electriclarryland
ELECTRICLARRYLAND
Butthole Surfers: Gibby Haynes (vocals); Paul Leary (guitar); King Coffey (drums).
Additional personnel: Fooch (pedal steel guitar); John Hagen (cello); Mark Eddinger (keyboards); Andrew Weiss, Bill Carter (bass); Danno Saratak (drum programming).
Producers: Paul Leary (tracks 1-2, 5, 8, 11-13); Steve Thompson (tracks 3-4, 6-7, 9-10).
Engineers: Stuart Sullivan (tracks 1-2, 4-5, 8, 11-13); Chris Shaw (tracks 3, 6-7, 9-10).
The notorious Butthole Surfers continue their onslaught of gloriously twisted guitar rock on ELETRICLARRYLAND. Singer Gibby Haynes is like a skid-row bum in a Kabuki theater, donning the masks of various characters and investing all of them, from the psychedelic shaman of "Pepper" to the apocalyptic ranter of "Birds," with trailer-park trashiness. The other Surfers match Haynes step for step, generating an unrelenting barrage of organized chaos.
Over the course of their decade-plus tenure as kings of bizarro avant-punk, these Texans have learned to temper their freneticism with a more reserved, if equally skewed, sensiblility. Toward this end, "Let's Talk About Cars," with its low-key atmospherics, and the almost pastoral "Pepper" provide a welcome contrast to the band's famous sonic assault.
On Electriclarryland, their second major-label album, the Butthole Surfers continue the streamlined direction they began with Independent Worm Saloon, which basically means it's a loud guitar rock album. Even though there's potential for the record to become unnecessarily generic, it's to the Buttholes' credit that they still have the desire to throw enough bizarre wrenches into the machinery to keep most of their diehard audience satiated. Certainly, Electriclarryland will sound way too tame for fans of Locust Abortion Technican and Hairway to Steven, and they're right, to a certain extent. For listeners accustomed to their unhinged, perverse '80s recordings, there is nothing on this guitar-heavy record to please them. But Electriclarryland is a logical maturation for the band. It's odd to think of the Buttholes maturing, but that is the case with this album. They have a couple of jangly pop numbers that appear to be played relatively straight and the heavier numbers have a piledriving inevitability that make them memorable. In short, Electriclarryland rocks and it rocks hard, with enough energy for bands half of the Buttholes' age. And underneath the seemingly normal surface, the Buttholes have thrown in enough jokes and have twisted around enough clich?s to prove that the band may mature, but they'll never really grow up. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Genre: Rock

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/butthole-surfers-electriclarryland_LuxrM.jpg?v=1758942172
andrea-bocelli-amore-2lp
AMORE (2LP)

AMORE (2LP) is a Records & LPs from Andrea Bocelli

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

A career-spanning Beat Happening collection was long overdue when it finally arrived in 2015. Thanks to Domino Records, the band finally started to get the reissue treatment many bands of their stature had been getting for years. The 23 tracks chosen by the bandmembers themselves include their first single, 1984's "Look Around," and tracks from their five albums and singles, and ends with their surprise 2000 single "Angel Gone," which was released with the Crashing Through box set. It's the perfect starting place for someone who maybe heard about the band and wants to check them out, and it's also a reminder for longtime fans of just how many brilliant songs they had. It's almost staggering when they are all collected in one place like this. The trio of Calvin Johnson, Heather Lewis, and Bret Lunsford were able to create a sound from the very beginning that was inviting in its simplicity and deceptively deep lyrically, with tunes so catchy that they stick halfway through the first listen. Sometimes called twee or child-like, their songs are actually quite often dark and brooding with undercurrents of death and sex lurking just below the crashing and strumming surface. Besides, any band who loved the Cramps as much as Beat Happening did could hardly be twee. Check the thundering crunch of "Bad Seed" or the noir strut of "Nancy Sin," then try to make the case they are anything less than a great rock band. Listen to the aching beauty of "Cast a Shadow" or "Fortune Cookie Prize" and they are a sweet pop band. On the epic "Godsend" or the truly enchanting "Tiger Trap" they are indie rock at its best and most moving. Their greatest almost-hit, "Indian Summer," was covered by R.E.M., Luna, and Benjamin Gibbard. Between Johnson's deadpan vocal delivery, his lovingly crafted persona, and his creepy and humorous lyrics, Lewis' less theatrical, open-hearted singing and writing, and Lunsford's steady musicianship, the band formed the kind of complementary bond most bands would kill to have. Their pieces fit together perfectly and their songs are short bursts of pop music that at their best come as close to perfection as anybody's ever have. This collection is full of heart-warming, life-affirming moments that reinforce the band's status as one of the best American indie pop bands to ever pick up guitars and as such, it's vital listening for pretty much anyone and everyone interested in that style. ~ Tim Sendra

Genre: Rock and Pop

Format: Vinyl

Internal ID: JITRE

Released: 11/20/2015

Kill The Lights [2 LP] is a Records & LPs from Luke Bryan

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/luke-bryan-kill-the-lights-2-lp_x2Uoc.jpg?v=1759272231
harper-ben-fight-for-your-mind
FIGHT FOR YOUR MIND
Available with WELCOME TO THE CRUEL WORLD and THE WILL TO LIVE in THE BEN HARPER BOX SET.
Personnel: Ben Harper (vocals, acoustic & Weissenborn guitars); Danielle Charles (violin); Brett Banduci (viola); Timothy Loo (cello); Ervin Pope (Hammond B-3 organ); Juan Nelson, Carey Christensen (bass); Oliver Charles (drums); Bob "Stiv" Coke (tamboura, sarod, tabla); Leon Lewis Mobley (percussion).

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/harperben-fight-for-your-mind_cQq1L.jpg?v=1756419276
m83-saturday-youth-2-lps
Saturday = Youth (2 Lp's)

On SATURDAYS = YOUTH, the 2008 follow-up to the ambient-leaning DIGITAL SHADES VOL. 1, M83 mastermind Anthony Gonzalez wanders with his synth-pop muse into a dreamy, expansive realm populated by characters from John Hughes films. He's a laid-back, handsome, well-adjusted dude who makes music that sounds like he looks: friendly, ingratiating, relaxed, and perhaps just a little bit non-descript. Montevallo deliberately sounds like other guys next door, sometimes evoking memories of Jason Aldean (he's as comfortable with the slow-burning electronic rhythms of "Break Up in a Small Town" as Aldean is on "Burnin' It Down"), sometimes Keith Urban (Hunt does his own version of "Cop Car," previously a hit for Urban), sometimes Jake Owen ("Raised on It" is a dead ringer for "Barefoot Blue Jean Night"). Hunt is unabashedly a modern guy and his taste for busy electronic arrangements and facility with fleet-footed rhythms distinguish him from the pack of modern country bros: it's what gives the nocturnal urban sparkle of the hit "Leave the Light On" a lift, it's what gives "Single for the Summer" its sheen, it's what gives "Ex to See" a bit of dense menace. These electronic flourishes are notable but they're not the anchor of Montevallo, nor is Hunt's amiable presence. What grounds the album is his clean, commercial songwriting, heavy on hooks but also sturdily constructed. Ultimately, Hunt's ability to fuse his classical construction with modern flair and pass it off as no big thing is what makes his debut something more than just another album from the bro next door. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

For 16 years, the third Dr. Dre album was supposed to be The Detox, but that once-mythical, canceled LP was replaced by Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre, a supposedly final effort that was "inspired" by the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. When Dre says "inspired" he likely means the film gave him a reason to consider his history, and how he went from local gangsta to national threat, and on to billionaire businessman extraordinaire. Still, the most pleasing element of Compton is that it touches on all of the above but lives in the present. This brilliant kaleidoscopic LP, which was recorded in under a year, focuses on the veteran producer's connection to the modern world as it references Eric Garner, frames it with N.W.A.'s history, and decides that little has changed. It also celebrates the new breed, taking the busy, jazz-inspired structure of Kendrick Lamar's masterpiece release To Pimp a Butterfly, and adds grooves that are entirely Dre, playing it steady, swaying, and locking listeners in. Early highlight "Genocide" puts it all in one cut as robotic funk finds Kendrick in full rage, while Marsha Ambrosius and Candice Pillay provide the soul before the track exits with some wild dubstep doo wop, as the more developed Compton still has all the quirks and smart-ass humor of The Chronic. The music is crooked enough to put Snoop Dogg into the groove for the swaggering "Satisfaction," and remains raw enough to drive Eminem into dangerous territory on "Medicine Man," while fellow N.W.A. member Ice Cube is offered a challenging, compressed loop for the straight talking and rightfully agitated "Issues." Quotes from past albums and past productions are all over this album, and the Aftermath roster comes alive again with Jon Connor and Justus shining in their spotlights, and after an angelic Jill Scott feature dubbed "For the Love of Money" paints this former Death Row artist as more serene than anyone ever thought, the closing "Talking to My Diary" ties up the loose ends as Dre professes a belief that Eazy-E is smiling at him from above. It's an excellent end to an attractive and rich LP, and as the man returns to icon status with this stoic and stern stance, the most unfortunate thing about this "final" effort is that this unproductive gangsta perfectionist who moves at a Golem's pace has now flourished under a tight timetable. Since Compton crackles with life and spirit, it seems a shame to shut that door. ~ David Jeffries

Genre: Pop

RSD Date: n/a

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/dr-dre-compton-explicit-content-2-lps_UvEnb.jpg?v=1741296789
andrea-bocelli-cieli-di-toscana
Cieli Di Toscana

Cieli Di Toscana is a Records & LPs from Andrea Bocelli

Genre: Classical Vocals

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0654/3523/8633/files/andrea-bocelli-cieli-di-toscana_wb57Z.jpg?v=1759267685
frank-sinatra-sinatra-65-lp
SINATRA '65 (LP)

Frank Sinatra | Sinatra '65 (LP) | Vinyl | 11/20/2015

Genre: Jazz

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/20/2015
