Concert review: Bob Moses and Cannons with Oxis at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California, on July 17, 2026
We already had tickets to see Rainbow Kitten Surprise at the Greek Theatre the following night, so when Bob Moses and Cannons announced a show at the same venue one day earlier, we decided to turn the trip into a back-to-back concert weekend.
My boyfriend and I stayed in San Francisco for both shows, with the Afterglow Tour becoming the first night of our weekend. Cannons were the main reason I wanted to attend. I had already seen them once before and wanted another chance to experience their dreamy live show. This would also be my first time seeing Bob Moses and opener Oxis.
What began as an added concert date ended up introducing me to an artist whose music takes on an entirely different life when performed onstage.

An Outdoor Night at the Greek Theatre
The Greek Theatre is a beautiful outdoor venue, and the Bay Area’s cooler weather made the beginning of the evening especially comfortable. It was a great setting for a show built around the contrasting atmospheres of Cannons and Bob Moses.
However, once the sun went down, that comfortable weather quickly became cold. I had forgotten my sweater at home and definitely regretted it by sunset.
I also learned one important lesson about attending a show at the Greek Theatre: bring a seat cushion. The seating areas are made of concrete, and after spending several hours sitting there, you will absolutely feel it later.
We arrived early enough to catch Oxis, making this my first time seeing the opener as well. Although Cannons were initially the biggest draw for me, arriving for the full show allowed the night to build naturally before the two main performances.
Cannons Bring Their Dreamlike Sound to the Stage
Cannons opened their performance with “Loving You,” immediately setting the tone for their portion of the night.
Their live show has a dreamy, almost suspended feeling. The music, lighting and production work together to create an atmosphere that feels like entering a neon-lit dream state. Retro visuals and glowing colors surrounded the band, matching the smooth, hypnotic quality of their songs.
Cannons sound very similar live to how they do on their recordings, which is part of what makes their performance so satisfying. Michelle Joy’s vocals retain the soft, polished quality that defines the band’s music, while the live setting gives the songs more space to surround the audience.

“Fire for You” remains one of the songs most closely associated with Cannons, but hearing newer material alongside familiar favorites showed how naturally their catalog fits together. Their music maintains a consistent mood without every song feeling identical.
The only song I wish had been included was “Can You Feel My Heart.” It would have fit perfectly into the atmosphere they created at the Greek Theatre.
Bob Moses Changes the Energy
After Cannons created a dreamy, neon-lit atmosphere, Bob Moses shifted the entire energy of the night.
They opened with “Time of Your Life,” introducing a performance that felt louder, bolder and more physical. While Cannons made the Greek Theatre feel like a dream, Bob Moses made it feel more like an outdoor club or rave.
Their production reflected that difference. Cannons relied on softer retro lighting and glowing colors, while Bob Moses used bright, flashing and more dramatic visuals. The stage production felt designed to amplify the movement and energy of the music.
I was not very familiar with Bob Moses before the concert, so I did not enter the show with a list of songs I was waiting to hear. That gave me the chance to experience their performance without many expectations.
Their music also has a different delivery live than it does on a recording. The songs become heavier and more immersive, with the rhythm and production creating an experience that cannot be fully recreated through headphones or speakers. Their live show takes the music to another level.
Looking back after becoming more familiar with the songs, “Afterglow” and “Desire” were two of the strongest moments for me.
“Desire” especially captures the difference between simply listening to Bob Moses and experiencing them live. The performance had the kind of energy that makes the crowd feel like part of a DJ set rather than an audience watching from a distance.
I recorded several songs during Cannons’ performance, but my phone battery was running very low by the time Bob Moses came on. I only managed to capture one Bob Moses video, making the clip of “Desire” my main recording from their set.
Two Different Performances That Belonged Together
Cannons and Bob Moses have noticeably different live energies, but that contrast is what made the Afterglow Tour pairing work.
Cannons offered something smooth, dreamy and nostalgic. Bob Moses brought a more intense electronic energy that transformed the venue after dark. Instead of feeling like two unrelated concerts placed together, the night gradually moved from a hazy sunset atmosphere into a late-night dance set.
The tour gave both artists room to create their own world while still feeling connected by electronic production and music designed to pull the listener into a specific mood.
For me, the strongest part of the night was being able to return to an artist I already enjoyed while also discovering how much another artist could surprise me live.
A Stop at the Merchandise Table
We visited the merchandise table and both left with something from the show.
My boyfriend and I each bought a Cannons shirt. He also picked up a Bob Moses shirt and a vinyl copy of Cannons’ latest album, Everything Glows.
Buying the record at the concert felt especially fitting because Cannons performed several songs connected to their newest era. Concert merchandise and physical music can become souvenirs from a specific night, carrying the memory of the performance long after the tour is over.
From the Stage to the Shelf
Both Cannons and Bob Moses focused heavily on their more recent releases during the show.

Final Thoughts
We originally added the Afterglow Tour because I wanted to see Cannons again. By the end of the night, I left with a greater appreciation for both artists.
Cannons delivered the dreamy, neon-colored performance I hoped to experience again. Bob Moses became the surprise of the evening, showing me how dramatically their music changes in a live setting.
I would happily see either artist again. We were already looking at Cannons’ fall tour dates later in the year, and Bob Moses proved that they are a group whose music is best understood when it is loud, visual and unfolding in front of an audience.
For anyone considering seeing the Afterglow Tour, expect two distinct experiences within the same night: a dreamlike performance from Cannons followed by the bold energy of Bob Moses.
