Tim Buckley

Happy Sad [Import]

Happy Sad [Import]

Description "Happy Sad" is the third studio album by Tim Buckley, released in April 1969 on Elektra Records. This album marks a significant shift in Buckley's sound, moving away from the folk-rock style of his earlier work towards a more jazz-influenced, free-flowing approach. The album is often considered Buckley's first major artistic breakthrough. It blends elements of folk, jazz and blues, creating a dreamy, impressionistic atmosphere. Unlike his previous album ("Goodbye and Hello"), which had a more structured psychedelic folk sound, "Happy Sad" features long, fluid compositions with minimalist arrangements. The album is heavily influenced by jazz improvisation, particularly in the use of vibraphone (played by David Friedman) and conga rhythms and Buckley's vocals are more expressive and freeform, foreshadowing his later experimental work Tracks 1 Strange Feelin' 2 Buzzin' Fly 3 Love from Room 109 at the Islander (On Pacific Coast Highway) 4 Dream Letter 5 Gyspy Woman 6 Sing a Song for You
