Explore Vibin' Vinyl's collection of Tríó Guðmundar Ingólfssonar vinyl records, CDs, reissues, imports, and collectible releases. Led by Icelandic pianist Guðmundur Ingólfsson, the jazz trio is best known internationally for its collaboration with Björk Guðmundsdóttir on the 1990 album Gling-Gló, a distinctive recording that captures an early chapter in Björk's musical career.
Featuring Guðmundur Ingólfsson on piano, Guðmundur Steingrímsson on drums, and Þórður Högnason on bass, Tríó Guðmundar Ingólfssonar joined Björk for a lively collection of Icelandic songs and jazz standards. Recorded in Reykjavík in 1990, Gling-Gló pairs Björk's expressive vocals with acoustic jazz arrangements built around piano, upright bass, percussion, and an easygoing swing feel. Most of the album is sung in Icelandic, while later editions also include the English-language recordings “Ruby Baby” and “I Can't Help Loving That Man.”
For fans and collectors, Gling-Gló offers a fascinating meeting point between Icelandic jazz and Björk's pre-solo career. Originally released by Smekkleysa in Iceland, the album has since appeared in reissued vinyl and CD editions, giving collectors multiple ways to explore this unique collaboration.
