Recording information: Universal Music Distribution. MC Serch, Prime Minister Pete Nice, and DJ Richie Rich released only two proper albums and a remix EP as 3rd Bass, but that didn't stop Universal Music's catalog department from putting together this concise overview of the trio's output. While it's a fine and even thoughtful sampling -- the obvious highlights are here, as are some smart deeper cuts -- The Cactus Album is a classic and should be any curious listener's first stop. Choice cuts from the post-split Def Jam projects Return of the Product and Dust to Dust would have been welcome, but this is part of a budget-line series that sticks to concise track lists.
