Description "Abandoned Luncheonette" is the second studio album by Daryl Hall & John Oates, released in 1973 on Atlantic Records. It is widely regarded as one of their finest albums, blending soft rock, blue-eyed soul, folk, and pop elements. The album didn't achieve major success upon it's initial release but gained recognition over time, especially after Hall & Oates became superstars in the late '70s and '80s. The album was produced by 12 times Grammy Award winning producer Arif Mardin who worked with legends like Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Chaka Khan, Norah Jones, and The Bee Gees. He helped craft the early warm, organic soulful sound from Hall & Oates, blending soul, rock, and folk influences, before they leaned into the more polished pop of their 1980s hits. The album includes "She's Gone" that became a hit three years later (1976) when it was re-released, reaching #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album reached, 27 years after initial release, the Certified Platinum status, with over 1 million copies sold.
