Sir Colin Davis/London Symphony Orchestra – Berlioz: Symphonie fantastique (Decca Pure Analogue Series) (180G) [LP]

Description

Since its first release, Sir Colin Davis's exhilarating 1974 account of the Symphonie fantastique with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, has remained a prime recommendation. His affinity with Berlioz is now the stuff of legend. His understanding of Berlioz's unique compositional practices is amply demonstrated in this Concertgebouw recording. All the individual qualities of Berlioz's orchestration are unapologetically realized by his supreme musicianship. He is a true champion of the French composer's work, and this outstanding version rightly deserves the high praise it has received over the years. Decca Pure Analogue Series is mastered by Rainer Maillard and cut by Sidney C. Meyer at Emil Berliner Studios. Hand-numbered, limited editions, pressed on 180g vinyl in deluxe gatefold jackets. Only original analogue sources are used, and no extra devices are utilized in the signal pass.
