Album Overview
Björk’s Vespertine explores a deeply intimate and atmospheric side of her music through intricate electronic production, delicate arrangements, and richly layered vocals. Originally released in 2001, the album creates a quieter, more inward-looking world than its predecessor Homogenic, blending detailed microbeats with harp, strings, music-box textures, and ambient sound.
Featuring “Hidden Place,” “Cocoon,” “Pagan Poetry,” “Aurora,” and “Unison,” Vespertine moves between experimental electronics, abstract rhythms, ambient textures, and art-pop songwriting. Matmos contributed to the album’s distinctive production, while filmmaker Harmony Korine contributed lyrics to “Harm Of Will.”
This 2022 import reissue presents Vespertine across two vinyl records in a glossy gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves. Released by One Little Independent Records, this 2LP edition gives listeners and collectors a physical edition of one of Björk’s most intimate and intricately produced albums.
