Album Overview
Dirty Projectors turn toward a brighter and more expansive sound on Lamp Lit Prose, the band’s 2018 studio album and follow-up to their self-titled 2017 release. Produced by Dave Longstreth at his Ivo Shandor studio in Los Angeles, the album reconnects with intricate guitar work, layered vocal harmonies, and the unpredictable arrangements that have long defined Dirty Projectors.
The 10-track album opens with “Right Now” featuring Syd before moving through “Break-Thru,” “That’s a Lifestyle,” and “I Feel Energy” featuring Amber Mark. Other highlights include “Zombie Conqueror” featuring Empress Of, “You’re the One” with Robin Pecknold and Rostam, and the closing “(I Wanna) Feel It All” featuring Dear Nora.
Alongside Longstreth and the core musicians, Lamp Lit Prose features contributions from Syd, Amber Mark, Empress Of, HAIM, Rostam, Robin Pecknold, and Dear Nora, with additional orchestral color from the Calder Quartet and brass musicians. The result combines experimental pop songwriting, intricate rhythms, bright guitar arrangements, and richly layered vocal performances.
This 2018 standard U.S. Domino edition presents the complete album on a single black vinyl LP.
