Niki & The Dove – Everybody's Heart Is Broken Now (180G) [2LP]

Description

Niki & The Dove's sophomore album has been out of print since 2016. Its only vinyl pressing sold out in Sweden within two months and has never been repressed. Ten years on, it returns as a 2LP in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Everybody's Heart Is Broken Now arrived in April 2016, four years after the Swedish duo's acclaimed debut Instinct. Where their Scandinavian contemporaries were chasing contemporary R&B, Malin Dahlström and Gustaf Karlöf went backwards to go forwards - Donna Summer, Cheryl Lynn's laid-back disco, more than a dash of Prince - building the record from record-collection digging and vintage synths with French house producer Alan Braxe of Stardust, who produced the single "Play It On My Radio" and mixed eight of its seventeen tracks, and with Christoffer Berg (The Knife, Depeche Mode). The duo's own two watchwords were "Dance Romance" and "Bladerunner Disco". Pitchfork called Dahlström "one of the most fantastic voices in pop". The Line Of Best Fit found a band "quietly evolving through heartbreak and revolution". The album reached #2 on iTunes Sweden and entered the Swedish vinyl chart at #8, and "Play It On My Radio" held the A-list of national radio P3 for six consecutive weeks. This 10th anniversary edition is cut from the original four-side master, on 180 gram vinyl - an upgrade on the 150 gram original - in a gatefold sleeve with embossed lettering and printed inner sleeves. Seventeen tracks across four sides, including "Empires", "Lady Friend", "Sister Brother Mother Father" and "Sunset Tyger", four bonus tracks that appeared first on the vinyl.
