Album Overview

Fever Ray returned after an eight-year gap with Plunge, the second studio album from Karin Dreijer following Fever Ray’s 2009 self-titled debut. Originally released digitally in 2017, the album pushes further into experimental electronic music, synth-pop, and club-oriented production while exploring desire, intimacy, identity, politics, and transformation.

The 11-track album opens with “Wanna Sip” before moving through “Mustn’t Hurry,” “A Part of Us,” “Falling,” “IDK About You,” and “This Country.” Side two continues with the title track, “To the Moon and Back,” “Red Trails,” “An Itch,” and the closing “Mama’s Hand.”

Plunge was largely recorded in Karin Dreijer’s Stockholm studio with collaborators including Paula Temple, Deena Abdelwahed, NÍDIA, Tami T, Peder Mannerfelt, and Johannes Berglund. The record combines abrasive electronic textures, dance-floor rhythms, experimental pop, and direct songwriting in a significant evolution from Fever Ray’s debut.

This 2018 U.S. edition presents the complete album on a single 180-gram black vinyl record and includes a printed heavy-stock inner sleeve, fold-out poster, and download card through Mute Records.
