The Four Tops brought a powerful, Southern gospel-fueled sound to the pop charts countless times in the 1960s for Motown Records, and no other act in the Motown stable sounded more like deep soul on hits like "Baby I Need Your Loving," "Reach Out I'll Be There" and "Standing in the Shadows of Love" during the decade. All three of those songs from the Four Tops' commercial peak in the mid- to late '60s are included in this 12-track set along with others from the group's Motown era, as well as post-Motown sides like 1972's "Ain't No Woman (Like the One I Got)" for ABC-Dunhill and 1981's "When She Was My Girl" for Casablanca, making this a brief but concise tour of the group's chart career in three different decades. ~ Steve Leggett
