On 2007's CLOSE AS YOU GET, Irish guitar hero Gary Moore offers up a wonderfully spare set of blues tunes. While the album features plenty of top-notch covers (see John Mayall's "Have You Heard" and Son House's "Sundown"), many of the finest moments are Moore's own songs--most notably, the smoky "Trouble at Home"--which sound like they were written decades ago, and perfectly suit the performer's raspy voice and stinging six-string work.
