Gentle Giant: Derek Shulman (vocals, saxophone); Gary Green (guitar); Kerry Minnear (keyboards); Ray Shulman (bass, violin); John Weathers (drums). Recorded at Advision Studios, London, England from February to March 1976. Personnel: Derek Shulman (vocals, saxophone); Gary Green (guitar); Ray Shulman (violin); Kerry Minnear (keyboards); John Weathers (drums). Audio Remasterer: Fred Kevorkian. Recording information: Advision Studios, London (02/1976-03/1976). Regarded by most diehards as Gentle Giant's last truly exceptional outing, 1976's INTERVIEW finds the British prog-rock group drifting in a somewhat poppier direction. While the ensemble still displays a knack for decidedly off-kilter tunes (see the lurching "Another Show"), Gentle Giant manages to recall Traffic on the groove-tinged title track, and breezes through light melodies on the gentle "Design." For those who are intrigued by the band, but daunted by the complexity of its early material, INTERVIEW provides a more readily accessible take on its distinctive sound.
