Liner Note Authors: Mykel Board; Gerard Cosloy. Recording information: Noise New York. This is a compilation of live performances from various points in his career. Of course, it's missing a great deal of relevant information and the recording quality is crude. This is probably the best place to be introduced to the demented moron who made obscenity a political statement, as he was still possessed of an intelligible voice on these recordings. He can even carry a tune on the earlier tracks, unthinkable to those familiar only with his later work. His between-song banter with the audience is hilariously stupid. It features guest appearances from Dinosaur Jr.'s J. Mascis and MC5's Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thompson. Most of Allin's earlier recordings are out of print, so if you're a fan, find this. ~ Steve Huey
