Album Overview
Hot Chip’s Made in the Dark returns in a deluxe 2LP vinyl reissue, revisiting the band’s acclaimed third studio album with upgraded physical presentation. Originally released in 2008, the record captures Hot Chip pushing their distinctive combination of indie electronic music, alternative dance, pop, and club-oriented rhythms into one of the most energetic and eclectic releases of their career.
Unlike the bedroom-based recording approach behind much of their earlier work, Hot Chip sought to capture more of their live chemistry while making Made in the Dark. The resulting 13-track album moves easily between dancefloor-ready electronic pop and slower, more intimate moments, highlighted by “Ready for the Floor,” “Shake a Fist,” “One Pure Thought,” “Hold On,” and the title track. “Ready for the Floor” became a UK Top 10 hit and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording.
Released in 2026 through Domino, this deluxe reissue presents the complete album across two black vinyl records housed in an embossed gatefold sleeve with new liner notes by music journalist Kate Hutchinson. It marks the album’s first vinyl reissue since its original release.
