Purportedly the last chapter in a concept piece that had spanned over a decade's worth of albums, HELL'S PIT further refines the trademark Insane Clown Posse mix of humor-filled gangsta rap and death-metal-esque slasher-flick lyrical imagery. Although rhymes about killing priests, blowing one's brains out, cutting throats with a scalpel, illicit drug use, necrophilia, and shooting angels with a double-barrel shotgun may not be for everyone, few listeners will be able to resist the record's insistent, stripped-down rock-meets-G-funk grooves. In fact, it's hard to believe that so much carnage could be the inspiration for such a good party album; several songs feature beats that sound as if they could have been lifted right out of Montell Jordan's dance-floor classic "This Is How We Do It." Juggalos and juggalettes (the band's nickname for their fans) will no doubt be painting their faces in celebration of this 2004 notch on the ICP axe handle, as HELL'S PIT provides enough gore-and-guts hip-hop to satisfy even the most hardcore fan.
