BLOW BY BLOW, WIRED, and TRUTH may be Beck's best-known albums, but 1980's THERE AND BACK is probably his most underrated and oft-overlooked work. Beck's guitar playing is still exceptional, and his six-string skills again take center stage on this third vocal-less album in a row. "The Pump" is an absolute Beck classic, while Beck's muscular playing on "El Becko," "Space Boogie," and "The Final Peace" is simply awesome. Another key ingredient to the album's success is the superb drumming of session ace Simon Philips, especially on the aforementioned "Space Boogie."
