PREMONITION was recorded live on a Warner Brothers soundstage in Burbank, California in 1997. Personnel : John Fogerty (vocals, guitar); Johnny Lee Schell (guitar, background vocals); Mike Canipe (guitar); Bob Glaub (bass); Kenny Aronoff (drums); Maxine Waters, Julia Waters, Oren Waters (background vocals). PREMONITION was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. "Almost Saturday Night" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. Personnel: John Fogerty (vocals, guitar); Johnny Lee Schell (guitar, background vocals); Mike Canipe (guitar); Bob Glaub (bass guitar); Kenny Aronoff (drums); Julia Waters, Maxine Willard Waters, Oren Waters (background vocals). One of the most pleasant surprises of 1997 was the return of John Fogerty. After releasing the eventual Grammy-winning BLUE MOON SWAMP, his first recording in over a decade, the subsequent tour found the CCR founder sounding timeless and having a great time to boot. All this and more are found on PREMONITION, a live album from the tour that ably demonstrates how Fogerty still has a freshness to his playing not found in players half his age despite being away for so long. To the delight of many fans, Fogerty broke out a batch of Creedence material after disavowing it due to legal wranglings that stretched out over years. To his credit, Fogerty bypassed the usual greatest hits approach, choosing instead to mix in a number of earlier solo numbers ("Centerfield," "Rockin' All Over The World") with material from his latest record ("Swamp River Days," "Hot Rod Heart"). Most poignant was the unabashed affection showed to his wife as he introduced "Joy Of My Life," a number not only overflowing with spousal love, but a confidence belonging to someone who's finally back in the creative saddle and raring to go.
