The 1969 self-titled album by Koko Taylor cemented her place as Chicago's undisputed Queen of the Blues. Scouted by Chess Records bassist & producer Willie Dixon at Chicago's Sylvio's Lounge, Dixon provided his new protégé with "Wang Dang Doodle," a song that would sell more than a million copies and become her signature tune. Featuring Dixon-penned classics including "Twenty-Nine Ways (To My Baby's Door)" and "Yes, It's Good for You," alongside Taylor's own "Nitty Gritty," highlighted by Johnny Shines" poignant slide guitar, Koko Taylor remains a cornerstone of Chicago electric blues. Bring home the sound of America's greatest blues label in high fidelity with the Chess Acoustic Sounds Series. These audiophile reissues of classic albums from the Chess discography are remastered from the original analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Quality Record Pressings (QRP).
