Album Overview
LCD Soundsystem returned with American Dream, the band’s long-awaited fourth studio album and their first full-length release since This Is Happening in 2010. Arriving after the group’s highly publicized farewell and eventual reunion, the album finds James Murphy and company returning to their signature combination of electronic music, dance-punk, post-punk, synth-driven atmosphere, and emotionally restless songwriting.
Opening with the slow-building “Oh Baby,” American Dream moves between hypnotic electronics, driving percussion, sharp guitars, and darker introspection. “Tonite” and “Call the Police” deliver some of the album’s most immediate momentum, while tracks such as “How Do You Sleep?” and the expansive closing song “Black Screen” push LCD Soundsystem into more brooding and reflective territory.
This original 2017 U.S. vinyl edition presents the complete ten-track album across two 140-gram black vinyl records. Issued through DFA Records and Columbia Records, the pressing is housed in a gatefold cover and includes a download voucher, giving the album’s extended arrangements room to unfold across four sides.
