LCD Soundsystem’s landmark debut single “Losing My Edge” returned for Record Store Day 2012 in a remastered 12-inch vinyl edition. Originally released in 2002, the track introduced James Murphy’s distinctive combination of dry humor, obsessive music knowledge, electronic production, post-punk attitude, and dancefloor rhythm while establishing the sound that would define LCD Soundsystem’s early catalog.
Backed with “Beat Connection (Disco Dub Version),” the release captures the collision of dance-punk, electro, disco, and alternative dance that made LCD Soundsystem one of the defining acts of the 2000s. “Losing My Edge” turns anxieties about taste, credibility, and changing music culture into an increasingly frantic electronic groove, while the extended B-side pushes further toward the club.
