Album Overview
LCD Soundsystem expanded their dance-punk sound into something more ambitious and emotionally resonant with Sound of Silver, the band’s second studio album. Originally released in 2007, the record finds James Murphy combining electronic music, disco, post-punk, synth-driven repetition, and indie rock with increasingly personal songwriting.
Recorded primarily during the summer of 2006 at Long View Farm in Massachusetts with additional work at DFA Studios in New York, Sound of Silver moves effortlessly between dancefloor momentum and introspection. “Get Innocuous!” and “North American Scum” deliver tightly wound electronic grooves, while “Someone Great” and “All My Friends” bring mortality, friendship, aging, and nostalgia into some of LCD Soundsystem’s most enduring songs.
This 2023 U.S. DFA Records reissue presents the complete nine-track album across two black vinyl records. The pressing is housed in a matte-finish gatefold jacket with a silver-foil cover stamp, with lacquers cut at Chicago Mastering Service and pressing handled by Citizen Vinyl.
