Album Overview
LCD Soundsystem reached another creative high with This Is Happening, the band’s third studio album and one of the defining records of their original run. First released in 2010, the album finds James Murphy and company expanding their combination of dance-punk, electronic music, disco, indie rock, and post-punk into a more expansive and emotionally revealing collection.
Opening with the slow-building “Dance Yrself Clean,” This Is Happening moves between sharp electronic rhythms, art-rock influences, hypnotic repetition, and some of Murphy’s most memorable songwriting. “Drunk Girls,” “I Can Change,” “You Wanted a Hit,” and “Home” showcase the band’s ability to balance humor, anxiety, romance, and dancefloor momentum across long-form arrangements.
This 2017 European reissue presents the complete nine-track album across two black vinyl records. Issued through DFA and Parlophone, the pressing is housed in a gatefold sleeve and retains the original four-side vinyl sequence.
