Recorded between Relax and Enjoy in London and DFA in New York City, the track extends the band’s long-running blend of electronic music, dance-punk, alternative dance, and post-punk into another tightly constructed dancefloor release.
Produced and mixed by James Murphy for DFA, “X-Ray Eyes” was engineered by Al Doyle and James Crump in London and Korey Richey and Pablo Morales in New York. Bob Weston mastered and cut the record at Chicago Mastering Service, with pressing handled by Paramount Pressing & Plating in Denver, Colorado.
This standard U.S. 12-inch edition is pressed on 140-gram black vinyl and housed in a die-cut reverse-board jacket. The A-side presents the original mix of “X-Ray Eyes,” while the B-side stretches the track into the “Extended Trash Can Dub,” emphasizing its percussion, electronics, and repetitive groove.
