Personnel: Lee Ritenour (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, 12-string guitars, synthesizer); Bill Champlin (vocals); Ernie Watts (soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone); Tom Scott (tenor saxophone); Jerome Richardson (baritone saxophone); Chuck Findley (trumpet); Frank Rosolino (trombone); Ray Cramer (cello); Jerry Peters, Ian Underwood (piano, synthesizer); Dave Grusin (Fender Rhodes piano, Clavinet, Mini-Moog synthesizer, Oberheim synthesizer); Patrice Rushen (electric piano, Clavinet); George Duke, Dave Foster (electric piano); Michael O'Martian, Larry Nash (Clavinet); Dennis Budimir, Ray Parker, Jr. (guitar); Bill Dickinson, Alphonso Johnson, Anthony Jackson, Louis Johnson (bass); Harvey Mason (drums, percussion); Jeff Porcaro (drums); Victor Feldman (percussion). Recorded between 1975 & 1976. Includes liner notes by Lee Ritenour. The Best of Lee Ritenour selects eight highlights from the records the guitarist made for Epic in the '80s. It's a nice sampler, featuring such songs as "Sun Song," "Little Bit of This Land and a Little Bit of That, " "Fly By Night" and "Isn't She Lovely, " which give a good sense of what his stint at the label was like. It's not definitive, but it makes for a good sampler for the curious. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
