Having assembled a strong backup band, L&M were at their best in concert, and this two-LP set catches all of their diverse talents, from the tight, intricate rockers devised by Messina, to the sensitive ballad skills of Loggins and the band's ability to stretch out on the sidelong "Vahevala." [The 1998 CD reissue restored "Vahevala" to its full, uncut 20-minute running length, and featured rare photos and 20-bit remastering.] ~ William Ruhlmann
