Liner Note Author: Michael Moynihan. Translator: Markus Wolff. Ever since Robert Johnson reputedly sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads, rock musicians have been in perpetual contact with dark and wayward forces. Johnson, of course, is present, along with a host of other rockers, on the compilation LORDS OF CHAOS. Interspersed with performances by occult luminaries such as the legendary Alesteir Crowley and Church of Satan figurehead Anton LaVey, the contributors range from the obscure, shadowy likes of Swedish Viking-thrashers Bathory and Swiss black metal godfathers Hellhammer to names as familiar as Mick Jagger and Black Sabbath. While it would be impossible to include everyone with links to black magic on two discs, most of the important (or notorious) practitioners are present. Mercyful Fate, Mayhem, Emperor, Darkthrone, and Manson Family member Bobby Beausoleil are all among the other voices raised in praise of evil.
