Album Overview
Melanie Martinez expands the world introduced on Cry Baby with K-12, her second studio album and the musical centerpiece of the feature-length film she wrote, directed, and starred in. Originally released in 2019, the album follows Cry Baby through a surreal school environment while exploring friendship, romance, social pressure, authority, body image, and the struggle to find a place to belong.
The 13-track album opens with “Wheels on the Bus” before moving through “Class Fight,” “The Principal,” “Show & Tell,” “Nurse’s Office,” and “Drama Club.” Side two includes “Lunchbox Friends,” “Orange Juice,” “Detention,” “Teacher’s Pet,” and “High School Sweethearts,” before closing with “Recess.”
Across K-12, Martinez combines alternative pop, electropop, hip-hop-influenced rhythms, and theatrical storytelling with lyrics built around the album’s school-centered concept. The music and accompanying film work together as an extension of the Cry Baby universe while expanding its visual and narrative world.
This 2025 UK repress presents the complete album on limited-edition half baby pink and half milky clear vinyl. The pressing is housed in a gatefold sleeve and includes a 32-page 12" x 12" booklet and printed inner sleeve.
