Album Overview
Melanie Martinez enters a new world on PORTALS, her third studio album and the follow-up to 2019’s K-12. Released in 2023, the album marks a transformation in Martinez’s visual and musical storytelling, moving beyond the Cry Baby character while exploring themes of death, rebirth, identity, relationships, and the cyclical nature of life.
The 13-track album opens with “DEATH” before moving through “VOID,” “TUNNEL VISION,” “FAERIE SOIRÉE,” “LIGHT SHOWER,” and “SPIDER WEB.” The second half includes “BATTLE OF THE LARYNX,” “THE CONTORTIONIST,” “MOON CYCLE,” “NYMPHOLOGY,” and “EVIL,” closing with “WOMB.”
