The Mighty Clouds Of Joy includes: Ermant Franklin (vocals, guitar); Richard Wallace (vocals, bass); David Walker, Leon Polk, Elmer Franklin, Johnny Martin (vocals). Producers include: Willie Dixon, Dave Clark. Compilation producer: Andy McKaie. Recorded between September 28, 1960 & August 25, 1965. Originally released on Peacock Records. Includes liner notes by Bill Dahl. All tracks have been digitally remastered. This is part of MCA Records "20th Century Masters: The Millenium Collection" series. Liner Note Author: Bill Dahl. This sharply focused collection presents early-1960s recordings by the beloved gospel vocal group the Mighty Clouds of Joy. In addition to soulful original tracks such as the pensive "Ain't Got Long Here" and the uplifting "I Came to Jesus," the 12-track compilation includes rousing versions of the traditional tunes "Glory Hallelujah" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," making the set an excellent introduction to the long-running Los Angeles-based ensemble.
