Liner Note Author: A. Scott Galloway. Only nine of Pleasure's songs hit Billboard's R&B chart -- none higher than the number ten "Glide" -- but anyone who has spent some time with the studio albums knows the band released a large quantity of great material. The 24-track Glide: The Essential Selection compiles most of the group's highlights. Six of those charting A-sides, including "Ghettos of the Mind," "Joyous," and, of course, "Glide" -- made the cut. Often-sampled deep cuts like "Bouncy Lady," "Let's Dance," and the brilliant "Thoughts of Old Flames," along with another perfect sweet-soul ballad, "Tune In," are contained as well. Stylistically, the band fit somewhere between the Blackbyrds and Slave and should be as well-known as either group. This sharp package should help a little. In-depth liner notes come from A.
