Album Overview
Talking Heads embraced a brighter, more direct approach on Little Creatures, the band’s sixth studio album. Originally released in 1985, the record moves away from the dense rhythmic experimentation of Remain in Light and Speaking in Tongues toward concise new wave and pop-rock songwriting while retaining the group’s distinctive personality.
The album opens with “And She Was” and continues through favorites including “The Lady Don’t Mind,” “Stay Up Late,” “Television Man,” and the anthemic closing track “Road to Nowhere.” Steel guitar, accordion, percussion, saxophone, and layered backing vocals give the record a warm, Americana-influenced character that sets it apart from earlier Talking Heads albums.
Produced by Talking Heads and recorded with engineer Eric “E.T.” Thorngren, Little Creatures features David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison, and Tina Weymouth alongside guest musicians including Eric Weissberg, Steve Scales, Lenny Pickett, and Naná Vasconcelos.
This 1990 U.S. CD edition presents the complete nine-track studio album on Sire Records.
