Album Overview

Talking Heads expanded their distinctive art-rock and new wave sound on More Songs About Buildings and Food, the band’s second studio album and the beginning of their landmark collaboration with producer Brian Eno. Originally released in 1978, the album sharpened the group’s nervous rhythms, angular guitars, funk influences, and David Byrne’s unconventional songwriting while producing enduring tracks including “Take Me to the River,” “Found a Job,” and “Thank You for Sending Me an Angel.”

This expansive 2025 Super Deluxe Edition presents the original album in newly remastered form alongside an entire disc of rarities and alternate recordings. Eleven bonus tracks include previously unreleased alternate versions, an instrumental version of “Electricity,” and the “Country Angel” version of “Thank You for Sending Me an Angel.”

A third CD captures Talking Heads live at New York’s Entermedia Theatre on August 10, 1978, presenting a nineteen-song performance featuring material from the band’s first two albums alongside favorites including “Psycho Killer,” “Pulled Up,” and “Love Goes to a Building on Fire.”

The included Blu-ray expands the set further with the original album in high-resolution stereo, 5.1 surround sound, and Dolby Atmos, plus archival concert footage from the Entermedia Theatre and Sproul Plaza at the University of California, Berkeley. The collection is housed with a 60-page hardcover book featuring previously unseen photographs and new recollections from David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth, and Jerry Harrison.

Why You’ll Love It

If More Songs About Buildings and Food is a favorite part of the Talking Heads catalog, this Super Deluxe Edition offers a comprehensive exploration of the album and the period surrounding it. The combination of the 2025 remaster, alternate studio recordings, a complete 1978 concert, archival video footage, immersive audio mixes, and an extensive hardcover book makes this edition especially appealing for longtime fans and collectors.
