Album Overview
Talking Heads expanded their groundbreaking blend of new wave, art rock, post-punk, and funk on More Songs About Buildings and Food, the band’s second studio album and the beginning of their influential collaboration with producer Brian Eno. Originally released in 1978, the record sharpened the group’s angular rhythms and unconventional songwriting while producing enduring tracks including “Take Me to the River,” “Found a Job,” and “Thank You for Sending Me an Angel.”
This expansive 2025 Super Deluxe Edition spreads the album and its accompanying archival material across four black vinyl LPs. The first LP presents the original album newly remastered, while the second LP gathers eleven rarities and alternate recordings, including previously unreleased alternate versions from the album sessions, an instrumental version of “Electricity,” and the “Country Angel” version of “Thank You for Sending Me an Angel.”
LPs three and four feature a previously unreleased nineteen-song Talking Heads concert recorded at the Entermedia Theatre in New York on August 10, 1978. The performance combines songs from the band’s first two albums with early favorites including “Psycho Killer,” “Pulled Up,” “Love → Building on Fire,” and “Don’t Worry About the Government.”
The four-LP collection is presented as a Super Deluxe box set with a 60-page hardcover book featuring previously unseen photographs and new liner notes with recollections from David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth, and Jerry Harrison.
