Album Overview
Talking Heads returned to a more rhythmically adventurous sound on Naked, the band’s eighth and final studio album. Originally released in 1988, the record incorporates art pop, funk, worldbeat, and new wave influences while drawing on an international group of musicians and the improvisational approach that characterized some of the band’s most experimental work.
Recorded partly in Paris and completed in New York, Naked features an expansive musical palette built around percussion, horns, layered rhythms, and David Byrne’s distinctive songwriting. Highlights include the driving opener “Blind,” the melodic “(Nothing But) Flowers,” and deeper cuts including “Mr. Jones,” “Totally Nude,” and “The Democratic Circus.”
This limited-edition 2023 pressing was released as part of Rhino’s Rocktober vinyl campaign and returns Naked to LP vinyl on opaque purple vinyl. The edition was offered through select brick-and-mortar record stores and preserves the album’s original ten-track vinyl program.
