Talking Heads introduced their singular blend of new wave, art rock, post-punk, and nervous rhythmic energy on Talking Heads: 77, the band’s groundbreaking debut album. Originally released in 1977, the record established David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth, and Jerry Harrison as one of the most distinctive groups to emerge from New York’s late-1970s music scene.
The original album features early Talking Heads favorites including “Uh-Oh, Love Comes to Town,” “Don’t Worry About the Government,” “Pulled Up,” and the enduring “Psycho Killer.” Its angular guitars, off-kilter rhythms, and unconventional songwriting laid the foundation for the increasingly adventurous records that followed.
This expanded 2024 edition presents the complete original album newly remastered on LP1, while LP2 collects twelve rarities, demos, singles, acoustic recordings, and alternate versions.
