This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer file. Taproot: Stephen Richards (vocals); Mike DeWolf (guitar); Philip Lipscomb (bass); Jarrod Montague (drums). Recorded at Master Control Recording, Burbank, California. While Taproot could be hastily labeled a rapcore band, there's a great deal more here than a series of grooving, detuned riffs. Vocalist Stephen Richards is sure to catch the attention of Faith No More fans with his schizophrenic vocal approach, especially on tracks such as "Mentobe" and "Believed." Love/hate contradictions and self-loathing are the focus of "I Am" and "Mirror's Reflection," while "Dragged Down" laments over a friend who has become an emotional vampire. The Mike Patton comparisons are unavoidable on tracks such as "Emotional Times" and the particularly mosh-worthy "1 Nite Stand." The high-strung, positive energy of "Smile" and the heartfelt "Now" show the many dimensions and diversity of a band whose finger is firmly on the pulse of modern heavy music.
