Personnel includes: Twista; Vicky, Danny Boy, Baby Boy (background vocals); Shock The World, Newsense, Christopher Williams. Recorded at Creator's Way Studios, Chicago, Illinois. On MOBSTABILITY, the artist formerly known as Tung Twista brings along fellow Chicago natives the Speedknot Mobstaz to increase street credibility. Reflecting their geographical position in middle America, the mob stakes out a musical middle ground between regional styles. Rump-shaking southern jeep beats, the mafioso family-business subject matter and gangster-movie ambiance (see "Crook County") of East Coast hardcore, the double-time flows and harmonic conceits of fellow midwesterners Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and the bass grooves and trebly synthesizer of L.A. G-funk are all incorporated into their sound. A taste of r&b (provided by guest vocalists Christopher Williams and Danny Boy) and '80s party-jam production aesthetics ala Puffy (see "In Your World", "Rock Y'all Spot") round out the Mobstaz' formula for broad-based appeal. While never as innovative as Timbaland's homegrown drum & bass sound, MOBSTABILITY outstrips the Master P/No Limit army (the other major challenger to East/West rap monopoly) in terms of production values and lyrical complexity, even when covering similar thematic ground on tracks like "Warm Embrace" (a love ballad dedicated to the .45 caliber handgun) and "Party Hoes" (self-explanatory).
