Album Overview
Weezer complete their four-part seasonal song cycle with SZNZ: Winter, the final installment in the band’s SZNZ project. Originally released digitally in December 2022, the EP closes the narrative established across SZNZ: Spring, SZNZ: Summer, and SZNZ: Autumn, drawing inspiration from seasonal imagery, mythology, literature, religious traditions, and classical music.
SZNZ: Winter takes a more reflective and stripped-back approach than the preceding installments, combining Weezer’s melodic alternative-rock songwriting with acoustic textures, orchestral details, and a distinctly wintry atmosphere. The EP includes “I Want a Dog,” “Iambic Pentameter,” “Basketball,” “Dark Enough to See the Stars,” and “The One That Got Away.”
The vinyl edition expands the original seven-track digital release with the additional song “Why Don’t You Get Me,” creating an eight-track physical configuration. Produced by James Flannigan, Rivers Cuomo, and Suzy Shinn, the release blends the band’s familiar power-pop foundation with more introspective arrangements and seasonal instrumentation.
